We are constantly talking about how to generate mlm leads, offline and online. In fact, learning how to generate mlm leads is such a big point of concern that we have training after training on generating mlm leads to the point that it has become a cottage industry in and of itself.

This is the reason I offer so much free training here on this blog on how to generate mlm leads.

For this article though, I want us to pan back to get a wider view. I want you to see how you can be more effective and maximize your mlm leads you already have. If you can be more effective or maximize your mlm leads you are already generating and you can actually convert more of them to business partners, you no longer have to spend so much time and effort on mlm lead generation.

We can generate a ton of mlm leads but what good does it do us if we don’t convert them? I submit that we should stop focusing so much on generating mlm leads and more on converting mlm leads. For the sake of this discussion, I am also assuming you have already created your network marketing success plan.

Like the GREAT Jim Rohn said…we should be striving to get better! Sure we can get better at mlm lead generation, but why can’t we get better at mlm lead conversion too? That’s where the real value is…in the conversion!

Maximize your MLM leads by digging instead of pitching.

So what do most network marketers do? They go in search of an mlm lead, or prospect. The problem is that they don’t define what makes a qualified mlm prospect.

To most network marketers, the only qualification they have is the mirror test…you know the one…where you put a mirror under someone’s nose to see if they’re breathing!

Most mlmers are pitching their little hearts out to anyone and everyone that they possibly can. Now don’t mis-understand me, I’m not saying we shouldn’t talk to everybody, we should!

What I’m saying is that the reason we talk to them is to sift and sort them and figure out if they are a qualified prospect or a time wasting suspect!

If you ask someone, “Are you open to earning extra money if it doesn’t interfere with what you’re currently doing?” and they say yes/it depends/what is it/maybe, what would you do next?

MOST networkers would either start puking all over them and telling them about how awesome their product/company/comp plan are and why they would be crazy not to get started today.

Most of the remaining networkers who understand how an invitation is really executed properly would directe them to a tool (website, dvd, magazine, etc), set an appointment, or invite them to a conference call, webinar or live meeting.

What if we changed that step just a bit?

What if after we got an answer other than NO (I know it’s crazy but some people will actually tell you NO, they are not open to additional income), we immediately followed up with, “Great! Susan, WHY are you open to earning extra money?”

See what happened? I took a completely different direction than the one they thought were were headed.

After asking that initial question, even the ones that say they are open immediately have their guard up. Yes or Yes?

“What are you selling?”

“Depends what it is.”

“What is this all about?”

All of these are common attitudes and postures right after the initial question because the prospect feels like they’re going to be sold something, or they have a strong personal belief that they don’t deserve success, they’ll never be able to get ahead, etc. etc.

When you ask that question though, you are throwing everything off balance because now it is ALL ABOUT THEM!

It’s not about your company, your product, your comp plan or you! It’s about them.

So why are they open to making extra money? Did they just get laid off, do they want to get out of debt, do they want to bring a spouse home from the J.O.B., do they have a child going into college, did their 401k get wiped out in the stock market?

Ask them questions, and KEEP asking questions until you have a VERY CLEAR picture of their situation and their need. NOW, you can talk to them in a way that is VERY PERSONAL to them.

Now you can present your opportunity as a SOLUTION to their SPECIFIC PROBLEM. Now it is all about them, which is as it SHOULD be. icon smile How To Maximize Your MLM Leads

Every conversation you have with this person from this point forward as you move through the follow-up process should be focused on how your opportunity can assist them in solving their problem.

Now you are coming from a position of helping, assisting and empowering instead of just trying to get them in your deal. It’s a mindset shift. What if everyone in your organization had this same attitude and mindset?
